Through the Whispering Arch

View through the dark stone Whispering Arch at Clonmacnoise Cathedral towards Temple Connor, high crosses, green fields, and the River Shannon.

An arch is both a boundary and an invitation. Within the cathedral, the stones hold centuries of prayer; beyond them, the Shannon continues its quiet journey beneath the open sky.

The view does not reveal everything at once. Temple Connor, the crosses, fields, and river appear framed by darkness, as though the old stones are teaching the eyes where to look.

Perhaps pilgrimage is often like this: stepping through what has sheltered us, carrying its whispers with us, and discovering that the sacred continues beyond every threshold.
