Through the Ruins

Moone High Cross standing within the ruins at Moone, County Kildare, seen across ancient stone slabs mottled with moss. The pale carved cross rises against the dark stone wall, with leafy branches entering from the right and part of the protective roof visible above.

At Moone, the High Cross rises among broken stone, moss, and the remains of the old church.

The place has changed around it for centuries. Walls have fallen, trees have grown, and weather has marked the stone.

Still, the cross remains—not untouched, but enduring.

Sometimes pilgrimage is simply this: noticing what has lasted, and allowing an ancient place to interrupt an ordinary day.
