Pink, blue, green, and orange meet across a painted wall. Stripes cross the blockwork, curves interrupt straight lines, and the colour continues around the corner beside a dark gate.
Someone has taken an ordinary surface and given passers-by something to notice. The texture of the blocks remains visible beneath the paint; the wall still belongs to the everyday street, but our encounter with it has changed.
There is generosity in making room for colour where people walk. We may be on an errand, thinking about the next thing that needs done, when unexpected brightness draws us back to where we are.
Paying attention includes noticing what others have made—and receiving the small gift of seeing a familiar street differently.
